# Linwood

Linwood is a renamed, trimmed copy of **Coelacanth** 0.3.0, an open revival of Bruce Rogers's Centaur by Ben Whitmore
(https://gitlab.com/Fuzzypeg/coelacanth), used for the site name only.

- Licence: SIL Open Font License 1.1 (see `Coelacanth-LICENSE.md`, copied unchanged from the project). The font's
  copyright notice and licence text are kept in its name table.
- Why renamed: Coelacanth declares itself a Reserved Font Name, so a modified or subset copy may not be called Coelacanth.
  Linwood is the Indiana town where Bruce Rogers was born.
- What changed: subset to Basic Latin, Latin-1, curly quotes, dashes and the ellipsis (about 37 KB instead of 518 KB); saved as WOFF2;
  name records rewritten. Outlines and spacing are unchanged.
- Rebuild: `python scripts/make_name_font.py` (needs fontTools and brotli) from `staging/fonts/coelacanth/Coelacanth.otf`.
